What does ISO 10001 guide?

ISO 10001 provides guidance for customer-satisfaction codes of conduct: clear, achievable and traceable promises to customers. It is not a management-system requirements standard.

Define the promise and its boundaries

Identify customers, products, channels, conditions and responsibilities. Published commitments must fit operational capacity and applicable obligations; a promise outside the organisation’s control should not be presented as assured.

Describe the output accurately

A code, an implementation review and a certificate are different things. ISO does not issue certificates to organisations; any external assessment must state its criteria, scope and status explicitly.

Updated

A sound start verifies the real activity and applicable requirements before the service name.
