For a first IFS Food discussion, provide site address, product and technology scopes, customer specifications, shifts and current certification history. Include a representative recipe, label and batch record with revision identifiers. Show any mismatch between promised product characteristics and present operations before requesting the audit arrangement.
Nominate who validates specifications and who controls production records. Preparation links product requirements to the operating evidence and an action plan; the approved body confirms competence, scope and assessment arrangements. A commercial request starts clarification, not certification: unresolved recipe or label discrepancies need a product decision and demonstrable correction.
A hypothetical producer starts a customer’s new recipe while planning to use old labels. Compare recipe, allergen declaration, specification and label versions. First identify affected batches and document the product decision if they conflict; editing a label in the document folder does not resolve physical stock. Customer approval, actual production and corrective-action evidence must refer to the same product version.
IFS Food audits are annual, and at least one in every three audits must be unannounced. Readiness therefore cannot depend on a single booked date. Track product and technology changes, complaints and corrective actions throughout the year, including effects of the current doctrine.
