Questions for your situation
How broadly can a device family be defined in the technical file?
Compare intended uses, designs, materials and risks. Justify which models shared evidence represents and identify additional data for differences. A commercial range name does not create a technical family. Excessively broad grouping may conceal clinical or verification gaps.
Does ISO 13485 certification demonstrate an MDR conformity decision?
Review the certificate's standard and scope and verify MDR assessment separately. Certification to a standard is not the same as relevant notified body designation. Required product and quality outputs follow classification and route. Similar organisation names on documents do not establish equivalence.
Why should risk management and clinical evaluation be reviewed together?
Benefits, residual risks and use conditions should support one another. A new use claim absent from the clinical file is not verified merely by adding it to a risk table. Post-market information informs both. Resolve differences in versions or patient groups before drawing conclusions.
Do critical supplier certificates remove the need to assess the manufacturer's controls?
Supplier competence documents are inputs; assess outsourced activities' effects on the device separately. Agreements, notifications and record access matter. Sterilisation or critical components may need more than purchasing approval. Determine the assessment method from the activity and conformity route.
How should transition eligibility for an old-directive device be reviewed?
Assess certificate, class, application and contract conditions and changes against current transitional provisions. Do not rely only on printed expiry or a general extension announcement. Devices may differ in eligibility. Keep device-specific evidence, and do not treat transition as approval of a new intended use.
Which gaps most affect assessment timing?
Unclear classification, weak clinical justification, incomplete verification and inconsistent versions can create further review. Identify gaps against actual device scope first. Plan sampling, laboratories and body stages separately. Another manufacturer's schedule cannot guarantee timing for a different device and evidence set.
