ISO 22301 training: curriculum and assessment
The curriculum is intended for service owners, continuity coordinators and IT, facilities or personnel colleagues responsible for dependencies.
Audience and preparation
The curriculum is intended for service owners, continuity coordinators and IT, facilities or personnel colleagues responsible for dependencies. Before enrolment, identify the activities to be sustained, their users and the participant's decision role. Select anonymised impact and dependency information. Continuity learning is broader than backup administration: the course must address operational priorities, people and external resources. It does not guarantee uninterrupted service or replace the organisation's own risk and response decisions.
Learning sequence and expected records
The programme distinguishes the consequences of disruption over time from the causes or likelihood of a disruption. It links impact analysis to priorities, recovery objectives, resource needs, response responsibilities and exercise design. Learners practise choosing useful evidence for a readiness decision rather than merely approving a document. The expected output is a role-specific learning and exercise plan that shows what operational result will be observed, who must participate and what limitation remains unresolved.
Planning exercise
Two sites act as each other's backup but share a critical supplier. Map that common dependency against recovery time and acceptable data loss, then design a test that exposes the gap. Record which service can actually resume and which target remains unproven; restarting a server is not the whole continuity result.

A preparation task to discuss with QRS
Illustrative learning task; not an actual customer case or a promised course assessment.
Prepare these practical records
- Impact analysis worksheet
- Draft continuity response
- Exercise findings and improvement plan
Bring a critical activity, its dependencies and a disruption example for the practical exercise.
Before agreeing the programme, compare the proposed task with the participant’s role, experience and permitted evidence. Record the criterion, what the learner demonstrated and the remaining gap separately; attendance alone does not demonstrate the work.
