QRS QualityGRASP Social Compliance
GRASP is a GLOBALG.A.P. add-on supporting assessment of farm workers' health, safety and welfare. It should not be presented as an independent product certificate replacing the underlying IFA assessment.
Define the scope correctly
Can we obtain only GRASP without an IFA assessment?
Verify the add-on's relationship with the underlying programme and applicable conditions. Assessment is linked to the relevant IFA or accepted equivalent scheme arrangements. It should not be marketed as a standalone general social conformity certificate. Clarify the underlying scope, body and GRASP plan together.
Who monitors conditions when workers are supplied through an intermediary?
Define recruitment, pay, working time and complaint responsibilities clearly. An intermediary does not exclude actual farm conditions from assessment. Compare contracts and records with workers' descriptions. Consider whether information is available in a language and format workers understand.
Are social controls unnecessary when family members do the work?
Review workforce composition and current GRASP scope rules. Family labour, hired workers and young people should not automatically be treated identically. Consider local law and applicable national interpretations. “Family farm” must not become a label that makes every condition inapplicable.
