Questions for your situation
How should a lead auditor candidate’s experience influence course selection?
Consider knowledge of the standard, sector experience and previous audit assignments together. Turn gaps into learning objectives. A quality manager may know processes well but have limited interviewing or team leadership practice. Match programme prerequisites and practical level to the candidate’s actual needs.
Which part of an audit should be removed if available time decreases?
Do not choose arbitrarily; reassess objectives, risk, scope and earlier performance. Clarify plan changes with relevant parties and check whether the remaining time can provide sufficient evidence. The training objective is to manage and explain a limitation, rather than report an incomplete examination as completed.
How should a team member’s wish to audit a company they advised be handled?
Assess conflicts and impartiality risks, applying the rules for the audit type. A personal promise of impartiality is not sufficient in every situation. Decide suitable assignment changes, separation of duties or other measures. Lead auditor training should discuss the decision through a realistic role scenario.
Should a finding be deleted if the audited organisation does not accept it?
Review the criterion, objective evidence and wording again. Correct an erroneous finding, but do not remove a supported one merely because it is disputed. Record the disagreement and follow the relevant process. Clear, measured explanation at the closing meeting and accurate information about the appeal route matter.
Is a lead auditor course certificate the same as accredited personnel certification?
Attendance or course achievement differs from certification of competence under a defined personnel scheme. Check the issuer, assessment type and scope. Verify which activity and scheme any accreditation claim covers. A title printed on the document does not alone provide authority to conduct third-party audits.
What evidence is needed to move into another standard or sector?
Identify learning gaps concerning the new field’s technical requirements and audit risks. Plan training, supervised practice and competence assessment under the target organisation’s conditions. Earlier audit records may contribute where relevant. Adding a new standard number to a CV does not establish competence.
