Questions for your situation
How should the Statement of Applicability be compared with the risk treatment plan?
Trace a sampled risk through acceptance or treatment, selected controls, ownership and implementation evidence. Explain any control described as operating while the plan still shows it pending. A significant risk without a treatment or acceptance record also creates a gap. Dates and approvals should represent actual implementation status.
Does a cloud provider report alone demonstrate control of outsourcing?
Compare its service, period and location coverage with the contracted service. Identify complementary customer controls and excluded supporting services. Your configuration, access and monitoring evidence remain necessary. Assess current material representing the actual service used rather than relying on the provider's general marketing claims.
How can access removal after an employee leaves be demonstrated?
Connect a sampled departure to HR notification, corporate accounts, cloud applications, remote access and privileged permissions. Shared passwords and API keys may also be affected. Closing email alone does not demonstrate complete removal. Compare termination records against the in-scope system inventory and assess any delays.
Does a penetration test with no findings make other security records unnecessary?
A test covers a defined technical scope at a particular time. It does not comprehensively address awareness, suppliers, backup restoration or risk acceptance. Consider excluded assets and later changes separately. No findings do not establish security under every condition or completion of the certification audit.
Can incident records be withheld entirely because they contain trade secrets?
Discuss confidentiality and necessary access during planning. Suitable approaches may include redacted samples, controlled screen review or restricted records. However, effectiveness cannot be verified without evidence that incident management operated. The chosen method must preserve enough information to assess timing, decisions and corrective action.
How does acquiring another company affect certification planning?
Assess connected networks, user directories, suppliers and management responsibilities together. Determine whether the new entity or service lies within the current scope. Make transition risks visible while old and new controls operate concurrently. The certification body assesses scope and audit needs; an earlier certificate does not automatically cover the acquired company.
