Questions for your situation
What happens when the activity observed during an audit differs from the application?
Assess the effect on scope, competence, duration and the audit plan. Changing the form afterwards does not complete an omitted assessment. Arrange further resources or work where needed. A training scenario should investigate where information failed to pass from sales to technical planning and how that failure will be corrected.
Are the durations of separate system audits simply added for an integrated audit?
Consider the degree of integration, activity complexity, team competence and applicable duration rules. An integrated audit does not always justify the same percentage reduction. The plan must assess each system adequately. Training should distinguish where evidence can be shared from subjects requiring separate technical examination.
Does using an external auditor transfer competence monitoring to the supplying company?
The assigning certification body retains its responsibilities. Define how technical competence, impartiality, confidentiality and performance will be controlled. A CV and course certificate alone do not demonstrate actual assignment performance. Training should consider suitable assessment inputs together, including observation, file review and feedback.
What should be asked when the decision file contains an open nonconformity?
Examine the nature of the finding, accepted corrections and verification records. The conditions supporting the decision must be clear. A commercial delivery date does not resolve a technical gap. Training should practise identifying missing evidence and writing the reason for returning a file for further review.
Is an email to the customer sufficient to manage a suspension?
Record the decision, scope, date and conditions governing use of the certificate within the relevant process. Check consistency of publicly available status information and any other required notifications. Training should trace the status change through certificate records and communication channels so that an outdated impression of validity is not left behind.
Does ISO 17021-1 training extend an organisation’s accreditation scope?
Training contributes to personnel development; accreditation scope depends on a separate assessment and decision. Review technical resources and applicable additional conditions for a new system or sector. Choose course content against those needs. Completion of training must not be used to claim accreditation for the new scope.
