Questions for your situation
Does a signed meeting attendance list demonstrate worker participation?
Examine how participation occurred and whether it influenced decisions. Workers across shifts, languages and roles need opportunities to contribute. A signature may record attendance without demonstrating effective consultation and participation. A training case should trace a worker’s suggestion through evaluation to the resulting decision.
Was the risk register wrong if an accident occurs during a task rated low risk?
Investigate actual conditions, assumptions, exposure and controls. The assessment may have been incomplete, or a control may have failed in practice. Raising the score alone does not address the cause. Training should practise reconsidering the assessment using incident evidence and identifying changed control needs.
What should be taught when the usual procedure cannot be followed during emergency maintenance?
Assess unusual work conditions in advance. Determine appropriate authority, work permits, energy controls and coordination for the task. Urgency must not be treated as a reason to omit risk assessment. Participants should understand the relevant stopping and decision process when safe working conditions cannot be achieved.
Can ISO 45001 training be recorded as a substitute for legally required training?
Compare the programme content with the separate requirements of the statutory course. A management system course title does not automatically satisfy required instructor, duration, subject or assessment conditions. Identify which course fulfils which obligation. Do not claim equivalence without verifying its basis.
Why should the site training budget include practical work?
Applying knowledge at work may require observation and practice, particularly for critical tasks. Focusing only on classroom hours can overlook shifts, equipment and instructor feedback. Plan proportionately to participant roles and risk levels. Connect evaluation of training effectiveness to safe performance of the actual work.
How should competence records be reviewed when a contractor or working method changes?
Assess the new team’s knowledge and skills concerning the work, hazards and site rules. Records belonging to the earlier service provider are not evidence for new personnel. Complete necessary induction and coordination. Observations and incident information after the change should feed into review of the training plan.
