Heat Pump ErP and Energy Labels: Models, Climates and Packages

Energy assessment depends on equipment type and operating conditions. A single-point COP must not be presented as seasonal performance or the energy class of an entire installation.

Questions for your situation

Can an energy class be assigned directly from a catalogue COP?

COP represents particular test conditions; seasonal assessment uses the relevant method and further inputs. Consider climate, operating temperature, part load and auxiliary consumption under applicable rules. Prepare labels from required calculations and evidence. Do not use the best single point as a whole-season result.

Why can low- and medium-temperature values differ for the same unit?

Water temperature and conditions affect efficiency. Comparing radiators and underfloor heating under identical assumptions can mislead. Make the conditions behind labels and product information clear. Project selection also needs required temperature, capacity and local climate assessment.

What changes when a heat pump, controller and solar system are sold together?

Review individual product information separately from package energy assessment. Identify actual components, control characteristics and calculation inputs. One component's class is not the package label. Clarify the package supplier's information and labelling duties under the applicable product rules.

Can different indoor units paired with one outdoor unit be treated as one model?

Assess combination effects on capacity, consumption, control and test results. List evaluated combinations explicitly. A common range name does not establish every pairing. Connect sampling and testing to combinations actually marketed; do not transfer a class to an unrepresented pairing.

Can the old report be used after refrigerant or compressor changes?

Assess performance, sound, control and other applicable safety effects. Reuse requires technical justification that the report represents the changed design. Update necessary testing, calculations and product information. An unchanged capacity label does not prove unchanged energy or safety characteristics.

Does field consumption differing from the label automatically mean nonconformity?

Actual use depends on building demand, installation, settings and climate. Explain the label's test and calculation conditions first. Then assess version, faults, installation and use data. Differences are not automatic nonconformity, but possible incorrect declarations or defects should not be dismissed without review.
