Questions for your situation
Does a HACCP plan remove the need to consider food defence?
Assessment of food safety hazards and intentional harm does not use an identical approach. Review defence according to activities and access conditions. Economically motivated fraud also has its own vulnerabilities. Placing all three headings in one generic risk table does not demonstrate suitable assessment of each.
How can food defence assessment remain proportionate at a small facility?
Define activities, flows, external services and responsibilities. Build controls around actual risks and practical capabilities rather than recommending the same equipment list everywhere. Clarify reporting and monitoring responsibilities. Plan length alone is not a measure of effectiveness.
Which management controls matter for an external maintenance team?
Define work scope, authorised people, supervision and responsibility for return to production. Apply access and notification arrangements appropriate to risk. A contractor agreement alone does not demonstrate control of site activity. Review changes and residues affecting product safety when the job ends.
Why is identifying products containing one ingredient not enough?
Also trace their stock locations, customers and use in rework or mixtures. Mass balance may reveal gaps between records. Correct exercise findings and check effectiveness again. A traceability system limited to archived supplier invoices may not enable access to actual affected goods.
Should every technical detail of a suspicious event be disclosed publicly?
Manage information through authorised roles, relevant authorities and necessary customer communication. Assess product effects and protective decisions without spreading unverified allegations. Keep sensitive defence details out of public documents. Preserve incident records, decisions and corrective actions under appropriate access controls.
Should the plan change after adding a warehouse or digital traceability system?
Review new movements, data access and record connections. An earlier exercise does not automatically verify the new flow. Check that old and new batch information remains retrievable during migration and conduct necessary trials. Include customer or certification programme follow-up conditions in change planning.
