Questions for your situation
Can one technical file be used for every export country?
Shared design and test records can form a core file, with market-specific requirements added. Classification, accepted standards, label languages, local roles and registrations may differ. Map each requirement to evidence. Translating one country's file does not complete another country's conditions.
Does a technical file review guarantee customs clearance?
No. It provides a defined conclusion for the product and evidence reviewed. Required conformity procedures, import permissions and shipment approvals remain separate. State reviewed documents, gaps and limitations clearly. A technical opinion does not assume a public authority's decision-making powers.
What if the supplier refuses access to the full technical file?
Establish your legal role and necessary information access first. Consider confidentiality agreements, controlled access or direct submission to authorised reviewers. Commercial secrecy does not resolve mandatory evidence being entirely unavailable. Report the resulting effect on market conformity explicitly.
How can hundreds of models be managed within one file?
Group them by technical similarities and risks and justify which variants each test represents. Keep differences in power, materials, use and safety components visible. Connect the model matrix to report and drawing versions. A list of names does not establish conformity of unassessed variants.
What comes first when adding a supplier and an export country together?
Assess product changes separately from new-market conditions, then combine them in one plan. Determine reuse of old reports with both changes in mind. Schedule missing tests, language work and local registrations. The customer's desired delivery date cannot determine the conformity conclusion.
Should expired or unverifiable reports be deleted from the file?
Preserve historical records while assessing current usability separately. Do not assume every report has a universal expiry; review programme rules, standards and product changes. Unverifiable or altered documents are not acceptable evidence. When replaced, retain version history and reasons for correction.
