Natural cosmetics: claim evidence and COSMOS NATURAL
Distinguish a substantiated natural claim from COSMOS NATURAL certification; review the real formula, processing and authorised issuer.
Choose the claim and the programme separately
A natural label claim and certification under the private COSMOS scheme are different outcomes. Define the actual finished product, formula and wording, then choose the relevant assessment. COSMOS NATURAL is not COSMOS ORGANIC. A botanical ingredient or a listing in CosIng does not prove final-product certification or legal approval; the applicable cosmetic safety and market duties remain.
Review the material, its processing and the actual variant
Provide full composition, ingredient identities, plant parts where relevant, extraction or other processing, carriers, supplier evidence and batch links. Hypothetical example: an old file describes lavender oil, but the new formula uses a hydroalcoholic lavender extract. Compare the actual material and carrier rather than reusing evidence because the plant name matches. Submit unresolved process and composition questions to the selected body.
Keep the databases, issuer and service roles distinct
The customer prepares the complete formula, supplier replies and production records. Before acceptance, a request addressed to QRS must be checked against the actual activity scope, documented authority and conflicts of interest. QRS policy KEK.04 commits to no management-system consultancy. This page does not establish that QRS offers product-file consultancy or holds COSMOS/halal-cosmetics authority; verify the decision and mark permission with the actual programme body.
Does natural mean organic?
No. COSMOS NATURAL and COSMOS ORGANIC are different scheme outcomes. A natural-origin ingredient does not establish organic provenance or the finished formula’s organic certification.
Does CosIng listing approve the ingredient?
No. CosIng is informative; a listed INCI name does not itself authorise use or establish product safety. Applicable restrictions and final-product obligations still need review.
Can an approved raw material certify the product?
No. Match the actual material and status, then assess the complete formula, production and label with an authorised body. Finished-product certification is a separate decision.
