Questions for your situation
Why does the operating mode in an EMC report matter?
Communication, motor and power modes can produce different emissions and immunity responses. Testing should represent intended normal use. Explain selection of challenging conditions and their relationship to other modes. Merely switching the device on does not establish coverage of every function.
Is a temporary loss of function always acceptable during immunity testing?
Acceptance depends on function, intended use and applicable requirements. Incorrect measurement results differ from a temporary display change. The plan should define monitored functions and methods. Compare results with predetermined performance criteria, rather than relying only on a general passing statement.
Can one file cover the same circuit board in different housings?
Housing materials, openings, shielding, cable routes and power supplies may affect results. A shared board does not prove electromagnetic equivalence of completed devices. Document variants and representative sample selection. Determine further assessment from those differences; names alone cannot extend a report's coverage.
Who should retain evidence for a fixed installation?
Identify responsible parties, engineering measures and installation conditions supporting EMC. Consider manufacturer instructions and the installation's combined effects. Do not assume separately marketed apparatus and installation-specific items follow the same procedure. Records should represent the actual installation configuration.
Does adding a radio module affect only the EMC report?
Radio functionality can also change applicable legislation. Assess spectrum use, electrical safety and other RED requirements. Compare module evidence with the final device's antenna, power settings and integration. Adding another model name to an old EMC report does not complete the change assessment.
What traceability is useful when EMC complaints increase across production batches?
Connect complaints with models, production dates, component changes and software versions. Investigate departures from the tested design and shared causes such as cable or power-supply changes. Define the affected scope in corrective and reassessment decisions. An old report date alone does not establish current-production conformity.
