BRCGS Packaging Materials: Audit Evidence and Certification Continuity
Connect a packaging batch to raw material lots, production settings, inspection results and dispatch records.

Connect a packaging batch to raw material lots, production settings, inspection results and dispatch records.
Connect a packaging batch to raw material lots, production settings, inspection results and dispatch records. Show which specification and customer revision applied to its intended use. An investigation into a printing error should examine controls rather than stop at an operator training record.
Track the actual implementation of corrective actions after the audit. Assess new inks, material layers or lines for their effect on hazards and scope. Follow Issue 7 alongside current position statements; certificate continuation depends on assessment under the relevant certification body rules.
A new laminate layer or intended use can affect the previous packaging scope. Updated specifications, hazard review and production checks should describe the same change. A food manufacturer’s certificate does not supply that evidence; continuation follows the relevant Packaging Materials assessment.
For a scope discussion with QRS, share activities, addresses, products and customer requirements. Verify the selected scheme’s body approval and scope in the official register. Preparation, independent assessment and the certification decision are separate stages.
Content checked: 3 October 2026. Scheme rules rely on official sources; record structures and work plans are editorial recommendations. Check the complete requirements and the body’s current scope separately.
